The Toronto French Book Fair launched its new Club de Lecture Inclusif (CLIN) on November 27, 2024, at Mossop’s Social Club in the lobby of the Hotel Victoria. The event featured Sherman Sezibera as the first guest author, discussing his novel La cité de Kali. The club aims to foster connections between authors and readers, with members voting on the book of the month. CLIN is dedicated to inclusivity, reaching out to underrepresented communities such as the deaf and those with dyslexia. The club will hold two monthly meetings: one online and one in person. The initiative is part of broader efforts to support the French-speaking community and promote literature in diverse forms. The 32nd Toronto French Book Fair will take place in February 2025, with a focus on inclusion.

The General Manager at Hotel Victoria, Émeline Boul, is passionate about community outreach and reading,

“I took over the management of the hotel last July. I always told myself that the day I got to such a position, I would make a difference. So now that I’m here, I have no excuse. So I thought first of doing something with the French-speaking community to which I belong…I am also a big reader. My dream has always been to one day have a book club with in situ author reading sessions . That’s why we contacted Eunice and here we are today.”
